La Carline

The Campion Carline (Carlina acaulis) is a plant of the family Asteraceae (or Compositae) and the genus Carlina. The term means that the stemless flower head has no apparent stem, resting directly on the rosette of leaves. His Provençal name "gardabelle" means that the flower keeps easily dried.

It is a perennial mountain, looking leathery and shiny with silver heads. The surrendered closes when the weather is humid or rainy. This is supposed to serve as a barometer for weather forecasting in the short term. It grows mainly in the south of France until about 1500 m on limestone soil often. Leaves in basal rosette, pinnately lobed in narrow segments and thorny.
